Cripes, it's SEPTEMBER and I haven't checked this thing since JUNE. I suck. I gotta figure out a way to connect LJ and Facebook... maybe then I'll remember to check it. Though I haven't been on Facebook much lately, either. Just haven't taken the time to sit at the computer when I get home from work... guess that's a good thing, because I can just sit down to "quick" check my email, and like 2-3 hours later, I notice the time and think, "what the heck?!"
So here's my obligatory post, just to make sure my LJ doesn't get swallowed up into the vast nothingness of the internet. I AM still alive!

I just got back from a bike ride, and the only word I have to describe it is.... glorious! It was so great! I hopped on my new bike and just rode. Didn't really know where I was going, but figured it was time to start exploring my new home town. What made it so glorious? People actually said 'hello' as I passed by. The scent of lilacs and apple blossoms was still in the air. There were marshes and parks and paths galore. The smell of freshly cut grass nearly knocked me off my bike. And it just felt like.... home. Corny, maybe, but it's true. I am so glad to call this place home. That 8.3 miles of gloriousness I experienced while on my bike today was just what the doctor ordered. Mmmmm!!!!! |

I was having an absolutely lovely evening - went to dinner at Chino Latino with Louisa, hung out, etc - then went to New Hope Bowl for Moonlight bowling and it all fell apart. A couple of the people that Steve's friend Ben invited to join us got just sloppy drunk (literally) and it put me in a foul mood... no pun intended. (foul... bowling... get it?) I got beer spilled on me once (on my brand-new-never-been-worn-before shirt), on my NICE coat, AND all over my bowling bag. FUCKING ASSHATS! I was so mad. I just about left, but we still had another game to bowl, so the "sober" people moved to different lanes and left the drunks on their own lanes. I outright told Steve, I don't mind if we invite Ben out the next time, but he is not allowed to invite his own guests. If he does, I'm staying home. I'm not putting up with this shit again.

Other than all of that bull, I had a blast this evening. Louisa and I were laughing so much! And my first game was a 204, which won me our little side pot for high game. I am pretty sure I won my bowling fee back with the colored pin payouts, so I came out alright. I drank a hell of a lot, and the food at Chino was FANTASTIC, so all in all, a quality evening. Just beware of the fucking asshat drunks.... they'll sneak up on you. |

Wow, you have to check out the new Street View feature on http://maps.google.com/. The Twin Cities was photographed this summer evidently. It's especially creepy if you zoom in on the 35W bridge... it's still there. Someone on ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) ljtwincities pointed out that Google probably photographed the north-south streets at the end of July (thus the bridge is still there) but that the east-west streets were probably done early August, because if you click on the "intersection" of 35W and University, there are cop cars everywhere and you can see that the bridge is no longer there. WILD. Be careful, though... it's addictive to look up places you know!

Usually the neighbor kids annoy me to no end, especially in the summer when they ride their dirt bikes all over, making noise and such. But tonight, they actually put a smile on my face. I got home from the Wild game (they won!) around about 11pm, and there was a car in their yard with the headlights shining on a picnic table and kids climbing all over it. I didn't stop to look at what they were doing. But once I parked the car in the garage and walked to the end of the driveway to bring in the garbage, I saw what they were doing -- they had the car headlights shining toward the big pond in their yard, which had frozen over, and they were ice skating! Laughing and giggling and having a terrific time. I felt a tinge of jealousy and nostalgia. I MUST get out and go ice skating this year. I MUST!!! |

It is STILL snowing outside! I LOVE IT! This is my absolute favorite time of year - all the way from Thanksgiving to New Year's. The snow, the eating, the family and friends, the cozyness of having a fire going to warm the chilly house.... it's all so lovely! :o)
I am HOME ALONE and like it. Joleen is out of town for the holiday, and Steve's fam isn't having dinner until like 6 or 7 tonight because Carrie (Steve's sister) has to work until like 4:30pm or something. It stinks that she has to work today, but it gives me a nice quiet day at home with nothing to do but whatever I want. Yes! I should clean or something equally productive, but so far all I've done is sleep waaaay late, catch Drew Carey (finally!) on the Price Is Right, watch some of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. and caught up on reading my LJ. I'll probably do a little internet wedding work, play some computer games, maybe watch some Friends on DVD (I'm at season 9 already!)... we'll see how the day goes. Then tomorrow is the Wild game at 1pm (they LOST last night! jerks!) and spending the evening with Steph and Adam (I hope!). Saturday, off to Hutch, and back home sometime Sunday. I know the weekend will go fast, but right now it's just beginning, so I hope to enjoy every minute of it.

Sorry for another wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am entry, but it's late and I'm tired. :o)
* The fog out tonight was unreal. The land was dark, but the moon was bright, making the pea-soup-thick fog light up white. It was eerie and fascinating all at once.
* I am SO looking forward to Thanksgiving! Eating turkey (mmmm!), having a four-day weekend, going to two Wild games, seeing Steph and meeting her boy..... wonderful!
* I NEED to start setting up interviews with wedding photographers. And go wedding dress shopping again. With objective eyes accompanying me. I took off from work last Thurs and spent the entire day wedding dress shopping on my own, just to get some ideas for styles and what might look best on me. I think I did pretty well -- 3 shops, about 20 dresses, and I actually found a few I liked. Go me!
* I bowled like crap tonight. Could be because my legs are killing me. I think I was on my feet too much at work today or something, because they started to ache this afternoon. Maybe I should eat more bananas... potassium is good for the muscles, right?
* MUST. START. CHRISTMAS. SHOPPING. I might even hit a Black Friday sale this year, since I'll be in the Cities. Could get scary. Check out www.blackfriday.info to get a sneak peek at the ads for the biggest sales of the year.
I gotta go to bed now, before I fall asleep and start to drool on my laptop. That would NOT be pretty.

* Decided I MUST get a digital piano with this year's tax refund. Or with part of it, I should say. Want to pay for part of it with savings. I must be diligent about this. I miss playing piano so much it hurts. Must. spend. money. with. restraint. until moving into the townhouse!

DAMNIT! The Wild were up on Calgary 3-0 and now are down 5-3 with just about 6 min left in the 3rd period. Why did you fall apart so easily??? WHY?!?!?!?
I'm stuck listening to the game online, since they're in Calgary tonight and I don't have FSN. What a downer. :o( Though, by the sounds of it, I should be glad that I'm not watching this atrocity. Damn Wild. Damn Demitra for getting an adductor injury -- I have you in my Fantasy Hockey starting lineup! Now I'm stuck with you until Sunday when I can change my lineup for the coming week. I might lose my grip on first place in the league. Grrrr.
